The Ordinary is a new skincare brand from Canada that focus on advanced functional beauty. It has more than 25 types of serum/cream with different ingredients that works specifically for your skin problems. The Ordinary takes clinically proven ingredients and formulates them for effectiveness. Since my skin break out lately, I have several of dark spots around my forehead, cheek, and chin. So I choose The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA, a concentrated serum with purified alpha arbutin and hyaluronic acid.

According to bestfadecreams.com, the primary source for Alpha-Arbutin is a small evergreen bush called the Bearberry, and it is derived from the leaves of this bush. Arbutin exists in two conformations, alpha and beta. The alpha conformation offers higher stability and is the preferred form for skin lightening applications. Medical studies have shown it to be very effective for skin lightening. There are patents covering its use for topical skin lightening products.

On the other side, hyaluronic acid helps improve appearance of “chronoaged skin” (skin aged due to sun exposure) is by reducing water loss. HA also helps reduce wrinkles and lead to significant improvement in skin hydration.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply a few drops (4 drops is enough for my entire face) in the morning and night as part of your skincare regimen. Don’t forget to use sunblock in the morning. After that, you can continue with your moisturizer and make-up. Or you can use it as a spot treatment, only apply on your dark spots area. It feels a bit sticky at first, but after 5 seconds the serum absorbed very quickly into your skin.
